April 22, 2007. The local government unit of the City of Koronadal, under the leadership of City Mayor Fernando Q. Miguel, hosted a welcome dinner party dubbed, “Dayon Kamo sa Koronadal” (Welcome to Koronadal), at the South Cotabato Gym and Cultural Center, this city.
The party, which commenced after the grand opening at the adjacent South Cotabato Sports Complex, featured colorful mixes of ethnic, pop and contemporary dance and musical presentations. A number of performing groups in the locale were involved in the grand presentation. Among the dance performers were, the NDMU Kariktan Dance Troupe, Kahayag Community Dance and Theater Company, Hinugyaw Cultural Dance Troupe and the Tupi National High School Street Dancers. The musicality was also performed live by a concerted feat by the Hinugyaw Ethnic Ensemble, Koronadal City Employee’s Choir and the Firefly Band.
“This performance is unprecedented in as far as collective artistic rendition is concerned”, the Artistic Director, Mario Estacion, said in an interview. He added, “The entire show was a beautiful convergence of ethnic, contemporary and popular dance and musicality, all provided live by none but only the local talents of this place.”
The musicality also featured an original composition entitled “Dali na sa Koronadal” composed and arranged by Cyril Forro, Ryan Gazo, Richy Dauz and Ruel Ambat (Digital Handyman). The dance performances were created by the different groups with their own choreographers and were merged into stage piece by Benhur Abulencia and Mario Estacion. Digital visual support was designed and produced by the Digital Handyman.
